My last two posts have been too depressing --- guess it reflects the times, but some levity is in order. Here's my favorite New York mag review of last night's Project Runway episode. It was pretty shocking that Joe came up with a dark pinstripe suit for a budding graphic designer, but I think it was even more shocking that Suede thought a Pucci print dress and fussy jacket would suit a photographer!
Internal Darts for a Knit Sweater
I've been focused on finishing that Shawl Collar Cardi using the Artfibers Zoe yarn, and I'm almost done. It is looking really cute, kind of a sexy Chanel-esque cardi, with its tweedy texture and contrasting black crochet edging. This was the first time I tried knitting internal darts --- and I love the end result! I normally just shape the waist at the side seams (decreasing from the hem to the waist and increasing back up to the armhole), but with this cardi, I added four internal darts (two in front and two in back) and knit them in as I went along. The fit is so nice, because the shaping occurs in the areas where the body needs it. And, because I used a moss stitch, you can't see the darts (the areas of increase and decrease)! I love this --- I don't think I'll go back to regular old side seam shaping!

Joe had to go. That suit was hideous. So bad.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get a better glander of your cardigan. The internal darts are very intriguing.
glander: something between a glimpse and a gander.
