I've had my eye on this Burda dress from the June issue (which, by the way, has a multitude of amazing designs), so I went in search of the perfect fabric for it. This is my next project, as I'm aiming to complete it for our July trip to Santa Fe.
Image from here.I went down to Mood Fabrics (of Project Runway fame) on 37th and 7th, right in the garment district. It was overwhelming --- but also awe-inspiring --- to be surrounded by bolts and bolts of beautiful fabrics. After considering the metallic linens and cotton sateens, I finally decided on a silk shantung/dupioni in a wonderful silver gray. I think it has the right amount of body for the design. Pictures later.
I also enjoyed the best coffee and cinnamon bun at a tiny place called Fika on 58th and 6th, a Swedish-inspired espresso bar. The experience reminded me of our trip to Stockholm (down to the Swedish guy working the counter!).

Lucky you! The coffee looks so goodhat plus fabric shopping--what a perfect combo!
ReplyDeleteI can smell the coffee and feel the fabric. Sounds like you had some quality moments.
