While a summer dress is an obvious choice, I'm wondering if a shirt/tunic --- one that can be worn as a beach cover up or as a decent top for a meal --- would be fun. I found this one in the February 2010 issue of Burda that I've been wanting to try.

While the image below (a Carolina Herrera creation) is of a dress, I like the concept of a fitted silhouette through the hips and layered fullness to the hem. I think it can be modified into a more casual skirt style --- shorter and less volume.

I'm not sure if your batik is cotton or rayon, but it is beautiful. I just picked up two cuts of rayon batik and love them for simple bias cut skirts. I have a blue and coral print that will be coming up next on my sewing agenda. Can't wait to see what you decide on.
That print is beautiful. I think I would go for a pretty simple shaped skirt also, the print is lovely enough to draw attention to it without lots of complicated lines. I look forward to see what you'll create with it!
The shirt would look nice, but I'd like to see a ruffle or two. I'm into ruffles at the moment.
Oooooooooooo - I love the skirt idea...maybe with some fun godet insertions or something like that - maybe godets at different levels to make it more interesting.
Well it looks like everyone is going skirt, but I say tunic. That color is so flattering near the face and I love the print. Plus, I love a nice tunic for beach or dinner.
Hi again
I am impressed with your sewing skills. I will visit definitely soon again to see how this one will look on you. Have fun creating your special design.
