The Faux: So Close ...

I made great progress on my faux fur coat --- inspired by all of the beautiful projects that are being created out there!

I sewed in a beautiful china silk lining in a gray/blue color and hemmed by hand --- the jump hem turned out pretty well. I tried it on and felt like a glamorous movie star. Only one thing remained until it was complete --- sewing in the jumbo silver snaps. Easy, right?

I'm sure everyone has had that feeling of being on a roll with a project --- great momentum and building anticipation of finally completing it. Well, that was me yesterday until it all came to a screeching halt in front of the notions wall at Joann Fabrics.

Unfortunately for me, my local Joann Fabrics only had one card (2 snaps) in stock. How can that be?!? I need those jumbo silver snaps! To make matters even worse, the salesperson informed me that they were consolidating the local branches into one "superstore", so they wouldn't be getting any new stock until mid-April. I was bummed. So now I need to find another store to pick up three jumbo silver snaps --- hopefully this week! After all, if I don't hurry up, Simon will turn my coat into his personal lounge!

Oh my that fabric is perfect. I hope there will be something even remotely similar in Sydney this winter.

Nice fabric, Simon certainly looks very pleased with himself! I know exactly what you mean about projects grinding to a near halt when you get near the end, hope you can track down some snaps soon.

I think.....I might own.....the same fabric. We have similar tastes!!!!
Don't get me started on JoAnns........It is hard to stock up on items you are not sure you will need, but I do have a hefty supply of zippers!
Love the progress so far, looking forward to the final product!

It looks like kitty (I take it his name is Simon, from other comments) has given your coat his seal of approval. The blue is a lovely color for the lining of a gray fur coat. I hope you are able to find a few more snaps and finish it soon

Forget Joann's! Get yourself over to Stonemountain or Britex - they've got GREAT snaps!
