I can't believe it has been a few weeks since I've blogged or even sewn anything! I managed to bring back a bug from a business trip and finally, after a couple of weeks, am on the road to recovery. This was a particularly tough illness to shake, but I'm glad I'm on the mend. Now I need to catch up with all of my projects and blog-reading!
I actually made great progress on the
Python Parka before the hiatus -- all of the pieces are cut out and ready to be sewn. I even received my extra long 2-way zip from
Zipper Stop!
The fabric is a lightweight polyester with a slight crinkly texture to it. It may be difficult to press, so I may use flat felled seams for this project. I love the python print!

Here's the pattern, which is from the
January 2009 issue of Burda Magazine. I decided to take the collar of the first one and put it on the body of the second. Both images from
here.

I really like the gathered collar detail of the longer parka, but didn't want something so long. I also like the gathered detail on the sleeves of the shorter parker. The pattern pieces are the same for the body, so it should be easy to swap out the collars.
