As we looked at fabrics, I actually had a flashback to when we were trying to find her a Mother of the Bride dress for my wedding. As a daytime wedding at a winery, I thought a nice tailored skirt suit in a beautiful fabric (matelasse or some other textured fabric) would be great. However, my mom kept choosing long, flowy, chiffon dresses -- some in floral prints and all with a bohemian vibe -- that I just couldn't envision at my wedding. I really didn't want my mom floating around my wedding in a bohemian-style dress. She didn't like anything I chose either (not a huge surprise). The hours passed and we ended up leaving South Coast Plaza empty-handed. She eventually went shopping with a friend and found a dress that looked great on her (it was long and had a chiffon overlay, but had a straight silhouette -- very flattering), but it was a tough day!
My mom is all about florals, prints and colors, so we settled on this Liberty print from my stash.
I looked through my Burda issues and found this interesting blouse from September 2009. Appropriately, it is included in their section on bohemian styles.

I think it will look great!

that is a cool pattern, I can't wait to see it completed.
ReplyDeleteThat will be a gorgeous blouse!
ReplyDeleteI think that blouse will look lovely in the print fabric.
ReplyDeleteI've set this pattern aside for some silk chiffon I have. I love that you think of your Mum as boho chic - that's how I brand myself.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to seeing the finished garment!
ReplyDeleteNice pattern... I will now go and check if I have that Burda issue. I totally hear you when you say different taste :o) Can't wait to see the result...maybe on your mom?
