I promise -- this is my last post about my little dwarf lemon tree -- and I'll get back to sewing!
I was so thrilled that my little tree bore several lemons that survived our recent frosty weather.
I combed my cookbooks for a recipe worthy of my lemon bounty, and found a simple one for a meyer lemon tart in the Chez Panisse Desserts cookbook (love the lemon on the cover).
I've made tarts before so I figured this should be an easy project. My crust came out well and the lemon curd thickened nicely (beautiful gloss too). The tart went into the oven, but this is where I failed. I should have been carefully monitoring it, but I didn't. Here's the result (only a partial view because I cut into the other side to check the taste).
Poor lemon tart! Too brown and overcooked. While it tastes ok, I'm bummed that my beautiful lemons turned into this sad-looking tart. My only consolation? I have a few more lemons, so I can give it another go.
Ok -- back to sewing!
