The weather was so beautiful this past weekend, but it looks like things are turning back to wintry weather -- kind of cloudy today and the forecast is for rain tomorrow. We belatedly celebrated V-day on Saturday with a great dinner at Alexander's Steakhouse -- steaks (of course) and other dishes with a Japanese influence. Such a treat!
Because the weather was so nice, I didn't get much sewing done, but I need to kick it up because the couture workshop is just a week away! As I mentioned in my prior post, I'm planning to work on a couple of lace projects. I found two BurdaStyle magazine patterns that I'm using as a starting point. I chose a simple pencil skirt pattern with a raised waist and side zip from the February 2009 issue (image from this issue). I made the muslin and it is quite easy to sew. There are just darts in front and back and the rest of the skirt flows straight down.
The trench coat is from the November 2012 issue (image from this issue). I may simplify the style by taking away some of the details (and reducing that large collar), but we'll see how it goes during the workshop. I fear it may be complicated to sew in lace, but I'm game to give it a go! I made several pattern alterations based on my personal moulage and am now ready to cut out the muslin.
I'm planning a reconnaissance trip to Britex Fabrics to check out their selection of laces -- I hope to find some beautiful candidates for these projects. Wish me luck!

I cаn't exactly remember why--maybe it was peer pressure from our health-driven community, who knows. It should be spread onto the pizza stone or pan in a layer less than an inch thick, and then the squash crust will need to be baked for at least 20 minutes before putting toppings on it and baking again.
